Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position available for the 2026 Season at Nonesuch River Golf Club.

The applicant would be joining a strong team with another Assistant Superintendent as well as a Superintendent who has been with the club many years. Our goal is to find an applicant who is interested in growing into the Superintendent role in the next year or two.

Nonesuch River Golf Club is the Greater Portland Area’s premier daily fee golf course. The 203-acre facility features a meticulously maintained 18-hole public championship golf course, a modern 2,500 square-foot clubhouse, a full-size practice range and two putting greens, golf academy, beginner golf lessons, and an experienced, friendly, and professional staff.

The 6,300-yard, par 70 layout was designed by Tom Walker of Golf Design Studios in Palm Beach, Florida. His mission here, as with all his projects, was to provide an appropriate challenge for all players’ skill levels. Consistent with a first-class design, the greens are built to USGA specifications. The course features bent grass fairways and greens, and the layout is fully irrigated.

The course is owned by Dan and Jared Hourihan of Hourihan Golf Management.

A Budget has been created for the Maintenance department which recognizes the need to maintain the course to the level of a premier facility in the state. Each year we also budget for capital improvements including equipment and in-house projects. The Management company has resources to be shared with the other courses, including Nonesuch River Golf Club.

The following are some of the expectations but are not all inclusive.

- Pesticide license or plans to acquire a pesticide license.

- Work with the Superintendent to order supplies and materials according to the budget.

- Work with the Superintendent to monitor and ensure ice buildup does not occur on the greens.

- Take a leadership role on weekend days, the expectation is that the Superintendent and Assistants will rotate weekend coverage.

- Minimum of three years’ experience as assistant.

- Snow removal around the maintenance building and clubhouse.

- Knowledge of irrigation systems and drainage, or interest in learning.

Salary to be based upon experience.

This is a year-round position. Benefits are health Insurance, two weeks’ vacation, any industry association dues and license fees reimbursed.
